A Superb Miniature Pearlware Leopard

Stock No: 000593

Height: 3.25 Inches / 8 cm

Reference: Myrna Schkolne, Staffordshire Figures 1780-1840, Vol 3, Page 170, Fig 126.123

An exceptionally rare pearlware single standing miniature leopard facing right, on a green and blue base with the original three leaf and flower bocage intact.

Provenance: This figure once belonged to King Edward VIII and formed part of the Windsor collection and still retains the (Windsor collection serial number to the base)W.C.108.

After his abdication and later death, it resided with the Duchess of Windsor until her death, when it came onto the open market at Sothebys New York in 1997.  It has been in a private collection ever since.  A very good crisp and detailed example for such a rare small little figure.
