Saint George & The Dragon

Stock No: 000679

Height: 11 Inches / 28 cm

Reference: Unrecorded Victorian example after Enoch Wood.

A magnificent and well coloured Victorian figure of St George on a rampant horse with the dragon at the horse’s feet. This figure was possibly made using the original Enoch Wood mould, used again some thirty years after it was originally made. The similarity between this and a pearlware example that has been recorded are almost identical. This figure is very rare and one of the most complicated and detailed Victorian Staffordshire figures ever constructed, it could quite possibly be unique. Victorian example C 1840. The spear has been added for effect.
