A small pearlware figure showing a rural scene,  a seated young boy is feeding a beautifully coloured farmyard chicken. The farm labourer is wearing a shirt, jacket, and breeches, his left arm is positioned around the chicken, his right-hand holds some grain to feed the bird which he has taken from his upturned hat at his feet. The hat has been used as a holding bowl for the grain. This piece is full of bright overglaze enamel colour decoration and quite charming, a reminiscent glimpse from a rural scene of a bygone time. The original bocage has been lost at some time but the tree stump has been sympathetically repaired.
