A Diminutive Lord Byron Bust
Stock No: 001687
Height: 6 Inches / 15 cm
Reference: Possibly Unrecorded
Price: £795.00
A fine and previously unrecorded early 19th-century diminutive, signed bust of Lord Byron, a relief scroll below inscribed an excellent example showing how well the decorators have applied the overglaze enamel to the face detail, gold highlights, and cursive script scroll title. The back of the bust has a small, indented name title ‘Lord Byron’, pressed into the body while the clay was wet. Staffordshire c1830-35. This figure reminds me of a Queen Adelaide and William Shakespeare bust that are now in our archive section, it may well be from the same factory. The bust has been repaired professionally by the restorer used by the Royal family, the repair is invisible and mentioned for accuracy.
