A fine early pearlware bust of William Shakespeare (1564- 1616). William Shakespeare is England’s best-known poet. An excellent well coloured piece using detailed overglaze enamels, a crisp example showing how well the modelling appears when a bust is fresh out of the mould, this piece having an unusual shaped red marble effect socle, c1820. Professional invisible repair to the base.
