A Pair of Zebra & Wolf/Fox Spill Vases
Stock No: 001068
Height: 8 Inches / 20 cm
Reference: Harding Second Addendum, Page 328, Fig 2127/2128
A rare spill vase pair of figures displaying a wolf or fox attacking prancing zebras that are jumping over a small bridge under which a stream flows, one being a mirror image of the other. It is possible that it is not a fox or wolf but a hyena that is being portrayed; the zebra is correctly modelled with a brush mane, for otherwise it could have been portraying a dog chasing a horse. Made in Staffordshire, England c1850-60’s, the left hand figure having a professional repair at the spill, the right figure is in perfect condition.
