A lovely rare figure of an English sailor and French soldier pepper pot standing on a round gilt lined base. The sailor is standing cross legged with his right hand raised holding his hat, his left arm resting on his hip, wearing a boater, jacket, neckerchief, shirt and trousers, two flags stand to his left and right at his feet. To the other side of the figure stands a French soldier with his left hand raised holding a flag, his right hand resting on his hip, wearing a hat, tunic with epaulettes and trousers, two flags stand to his left and right at his feet. A previously unrecorded Crimean War figure made in Staffordshire c1854. The figure has had a professional repair to two chips, these have been done to a very high standard and are undetectable.
