This highly decorative English pottery pearlware glazed figure depicts a seated lady reading from an open book held in her left hand, her pet cat seated to her side, there are coloured grass sprigs at her feet, wearing a head scarf, beautifully decorated long sleeved dress, apron, and shoes. This figure still retains the expansive and spectacular original flowering bocage and was made by the famous Staffordshire potter John Walton. Made in Staffordshire, England c1820.

 

Current Condition: Minor restoration to one bocage tip.
