A superb pair of early 19th century Staffordshire pottery figures possibly depicting the Sailor Departure. A sailor departing stands beside a flag, wearing a hat, shirt, tie jacket, and trousers, he holds an axe to his chest with his right hand. She is standing, her right arm raised holding a basket to her waist with a goose inside, she holds a standing boy child with her left hand, wearing a bonnet, long sleaved full length dress. Pearlware decorated with overglaze enamel colours. Made in Staffordshire, England c1820.
