A Turkish Gentleman Flask

Stock No: 001074

Height: 6.5 Inches / 17 cm

Reference: Possibly Unrecorded

One of the most unusual and rare pieces of Victorian Staffordshire pottery I have ever come across. The figure stands as an Arabian or Turkish gentleman, wearing a shirt, sash belt, and pantaloons, a long open robe sits upon his shoulders, and on his head, he wears a fez or turban. The head of the figure is detachable to reveal a flask bottle, the top presumably a cup to hold the Turkish tonic. It is quite remarkable that the head and body have managed to stay together for all these years and in such mint perfect condition, Staffordshire c1845-50.
