An extraordinarily rare and fine bust of Father Theobald Mathew the Irish priest and temperance reformer. Beautifully titled in gilt script capitals. The bust was probably made for the Irish/US market and sold as a souvenir during one of his visits to America or taken to the USA by Irish immigrants. Made in Staffordshire, England c1840.
