This exceptional and rare pair of blue-eyed Disraeli spaniels features intricately crafted separately molded front legs, showcasing the artistry of their design. The deep black colour is expertly applied beneath the glaze, ensuring that it remains resistant to wear and flaking over time. Known as ‘Disraeli’ dogs, these figures are named after the illustrious Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, who was notable for his distinctive hairstyle, reminiscent of the charming curls present on these spaniels’ foreheads.

Both spaniels are in remarkably good condition, although they exhibit some age-related wear, particularly on their gold-highlighted collars, padlocks, and chains, which adds character and authenticity to the pieces. Crafted in Staffordshire, England, circa 1860, these spaniels are not just decorative items but also serve as a fascinating historical nod to the era and its notable figures.
