An Unusual Diminutive Standing Bear

Stock No: 001924

Height: 2 Inches / 5 cm

Reference: Myrna Schkolne Staffordshire Figures 1780 to 1840 Vol 3, Page 179, Fig 129.1 (Similar)

An English Staffordshire pottery diminutive figure of a collared bear standing on a grassy mound decorated both sides with relief flowers to the base, painted with overglaze enamel colours of brown and green and a pearlware lead glaze, this figure is a hollow base model made in the early 19th century. This example to my knowledge is previously unrecorded, a delightful little figure.
