A group figure of Balaam and his Ass standing bare footed on a gilt lined base, his right arm holding a stick in the air, to his right an ass standing on its hind legs, below a bridge and running stream, Balaam is bearded, wearing a turban, long gown tied at the waist, a scarf is draped across his shoulders.

The figure represents Balaam and his Ass, Numbers 22/23 ‘And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword in his hand, and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field and Balaam smote the ass to turn her into the way’. This figure has been restored, it was made in Staffordshire c1860’s.
