A fine and very rare figure of Daniel O’Connell standing on a round gilt lined base titled in gilt cursive script, his left hand raised to his waist, his right hand down to his side holding a scroll, bareheaded and wearing a long jacket, cravat, and trousers. He was an Irish activist who fought the then prime minister Sir Robert Peel against the Union of Britain and Ireland. This figure is in repaired condition and was made in Staffordshire, England in the c1840’s. This is the only known example ever recorded in this size.
