A fantastic Staffordshire group figure of Edward Morgan & Jenny Jones on an oval base, he is standing with his right leg resting on a chair, holding a mug in his right hand, his left around her shoulders, wearing a brimmed hat, jacket, shirt, neckerchief, and trousers, she is seated behind a trestle table, with a bowl and loaf of bread, wearing a frilled cap and shawl around her shoulders. This figure has been referred to as ‘Legless mother’ in the past, for obvious reasons, but it is Morgan and Jones and she does have legs, they are just hidden behind the table, the source for this figure is from two lithographic music fronts by E.Walker and J.C.Rowland and published by T. Catherall of Chester. Both are illustrated. A very rare and desirable figure to find with the underglaze cobalt blue, in excellent condition, simply fantastic!
