Stock No: 001275

Height: 7 Inches / 18 cm

Reference: Harding Book 1, Page 125, Fig 311

A fine and rare figure of a woman seated with child, she with a book in her right hand, her left arm around the child’s waist, wearing a bodice and long dress. It is believed that this figure portrays Elizabeth Fry (1780-1848), related through marriage to Joseph Fry (1728–1787) founder of the chocolate factory that was later to become J. S. Fry & Sons in Bristol, for which the Fry family is famous. This figure was made by the Alpha factory and may have been produced to commemorate Elizabeth’s passing in 1848. The figure has an invisible professional restoration to the child’s left forearm, no other damage, repairs, or restoration.
