An fine quality c1800 Staffordshire pottery figure of a fiddler with underglaze-oxide decoration. The figure is modelled standing on a square moulded and raised base, wearing a cap, open necked shirt, jacket, knee length breeches, and long boots. The figure is previously unrecorded and very rare. The rather charming fellow has a comical smile on his expressive face as he performs to the onlooking crowd. A remarkable rendition that captures the essence of the subject perfectly.
Current Condition: Professional restoration to fiddle and bow tips.
