Equestrian Leopard Hunter
Stock No: 001490
Height: 10.75 Inches / 27 cm
Reference: Harding Book 2, page 73, fig 1906
Price: £395.00
A good well coloured model of an equestrian leopard hunter facing left, wearing a plumed hat, short jacket, trousers, and boots, his cloak billows out behind him, holding his spear in both hands and is attacking a leopard which is emerging from cover at his feet between the horse’s legs.
Harding believes this figure to be rare and desirable and one of the best modelled of the leopard hunter figures. It is probable that the inspiration for this figure originated from a performance at Astley’s circus, made in Staffordshire c1850’s.
