Reference: Harding Book 2, Page 304, Fig 3358

A figure of a woman standing on a circular gilt lined base, dressed in long coat and dress, holding a book in her left hand, the other resting on the top of a shield. This figure I suggest is emblematic of one of the bible virtues, Faith, Hope, Charity. The shield of Faith being by her side and a New Testament in her hand. An earlier similar figure found title ‘Faith’ on the shield, can be seen in Stephen Duckworth’s book ‘Victorian Staffordshire pottery Religious Figures (Stories on the Mantelpiece), page 75, fig 6.30. The figure is in mint perfect condition, it shows all the attributes of having come from the Thomas Parr factory and dates to the early 1850’s.
