News Girl (Parr)

A rare well modelled and coloured original Thomas Parr figure of a delightful girl selling the News, standing seven inches high, what is clear about her is she holds two sheets of news print, one in her right hand and the other down to her side, she is clearly poor, and bare footed. We have been able to find a similar reference for this figure in the William Kent catalogue illustrated in Harding’s book 1875-1962. On page 24, plate 16 of the catalogue it shows a figure of a girl very similar , she is titled News Girl No 187. It is my belief that this is an unrecorded original c1850’s figure and would pair with the figure, Crossing Sweeper.
