A very rare group figure of a boy sitting on a gate with his arms in the air holding his hat, to his left is a large tree, behind the gate is a girl standing. The source of this figure is a painting by William Collins R.A. exhibited at The Royal Academy in 1836 and made into a print in 1869 by George Routledge and Sons, it was titled “Happy as a King”. The artist said the subject of the painting was based around a story he had heard of a country boy whose ideal of kingly happiness was swinging upon a gate all day long and eating fat bacon.   The figure is in excellent condition and shows all the signs of being a product of the Thomas Parr factory.
