James Quin as Sir John Falstaff
Stock No: 000989
Height: 9 Inches / 23 cm
Reference: Possibly Unrecorded
A portrait figure of the fictional Shakespearian character Sir John Falstaff with an unusual makers mark to the back. Falstaff is standing on a well coloured rococo style base, wearing a long coat and belted waistcoat, holding a sword in his right hand, a shield on his left arm. This figure was copied from a Derby figure circa 1766 to mark the death of actor James Quin, the source being an undated mezzotint by J. McArdell. There is a reference to this figure in the V&A museum.
