A fine Staffordshire pottery bust in pearlware of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) on a black marble effect base. The figure is extremely well modelled with good attention to detail particularly with the face and the decoration on the tunic. The back of the socle base is impressed in capitals BONAPARTE. He was a military and political leader in the French Revolution. Under his leadership, French forces threw Europe into turmoil, and he was finally defeated at the Battle of Waterloo in 1812. This example was made c1815.

Current Condition: Very Good, professional invisible restoration to a chip on the back right side of the socle and minor touches to the black overglaze enamel.
