A fine true pair of red and white Staffordshire spaniels or Comforter dogs. These dogs can be found with separately moulded front legs or like these, integrated. They can also be found in a number of different colourways, black and white, white and gilt, all black (Jackfield) and also lustre and white. Made in their thousands, we try to locate the very best examples. This original pair are red and white with gold collars and black chains.  Both decorated by the same hand, the three dot painters mark to the underside of both figures confirming they have always been together, a very fine pair indeed in very good condition with no damage, repairs, or restoration. Made in Staffordshire, England c1860’s.
