A superb very rare true pair of original Staffordshire figures of Prince Louis of Hess and Princess Alice on horseback, both on titled bases with raised gilt capitals, Louis with his right arm resting on the horse’s flank holding a plumed hat, his left holding the reins, wearing a jacket, shirt, neckerchief, waistcoat, and trousers, Princess Alice with both hands together, her right holding the reins, wearing a plumed her, bodice, and long skirt, a sash across her chest. Both with professional invisible restoration, c1862 the year of their marriage.
