St Mark dressed in a cobalt blue cassock and peach cloak, and wearing a head scarf, his left arm down to his side holding a book, his right raised to his chest, a recumbent lion at his feet representing the gift of Evangelism. According to Mr Duckworth, he believed this figure is part of a series of four figures known as the gospel writers, St Luke, St Mathew and St John being the other figures in the set, these three figures are still to be recorded. It was made in Staffordshire, England c1850. This figure is in perfect original condition having no damage, repairs, or restoration. This is the actual figure illustrated in Stephen’s book.
