A very rare Alpha figure of a seated woman holding a stringed instrument in her left hand, the other playing it. The figure has a remarkable likeness to other known figures of Jenny Lind, the ‘Swedish Nightingale’ and could well be an unrecorded portrait of the Victorian celebrity. She is wearing a plumed hat, bodice, and double-skirted dress. Made in Staffordshire, England c1845, this example has a professional repair to the end if the guitar.
