A very unusual group figure of a man and woman, possibly theatrical, he is seated with his legs crossed, holding a stringed instrument in his left hand, his right playing it, wearing a turban, jacket, shirt, and trousers, she is in a roofed building with her head looking out of an open window. This unusual figure would appear to be showing the man serenading the woman, the source for the figure has yet to be discovered and to date it is unidentified. Made by the Alpha factory in Staffordshire, England c1845. This example is in perfect condition, it is the only known example recorded, it is the same figure used as the illustration in Harding’s book.
