A figure of Sir Herbert Stewart titled in raised gilt capitals, mounted on horseback, dressed in military uniform of helmet, jacket with sash, breeches, and knee boots, his left hand resting on the horse’s mane holding the reins, his right on his thigh holding a sword. This figure and its pair (Frederick Gustavus Burnaby) were memorial figures as both Stewart and Burnaby died of their wounds incurred in the campaign to relieve General Gordon at Khartoum. It was made in Staffordshire, England c1885 and is in original condition having no damage, repairs, or restoration.
