A very fine pearlware pottery bocage type figure of a seated songstress and gentleman piper with bocage. The lady is seated on a rocky mound, a full flowering tree bocage behind her, in her left hand she holds an open music book, her right arm held up expressively, wearing a bodice, skirt, and apron, the gentleman is seated cross-legged, he holds a musical instrument in both hands, wearing a black hat, shirt, long jacket, and breeches. The figure is exceptionally well modeled with much attention to detail and has excellent enamel decoration. A wonderful figure that captures a rural couple performing their own musical entertainment in a Georgian country setting. The figure is in remarkable condition, the bocage is complete and original, professional invisible restoration to the tip of the musical instrument and a back base chip, no other damage, repairs, or restoration. Made in Staffordshire, England c1820. This is the actual figure Myrna used for the illustration in her book.
