A large pearlware enamel glazed equestrian figure of Saint George with the dragon below, St. George with his hand positioned as if holding a spear, wearing a helmet, scarf, jacket, and kilt. This prominent and striking figure shows St George on Horseback, spear in hand, slaying the dragon. The figure is well colored with colourful quality enamels and modeling. The depiction of the dragon’s tail is very impressive, swirling around to the underside of the galloping horse. This piece is one of the rarer versions of this popular model of the patron saint of England. The figure has been professionally repaired. It was made in Staffordshire, England c1820.
