The Duke of Cambridge

Stock No: 001518

Height:  10.75 Inches / 27 cm

Reference: Possibly Unrecorded

A very rare and previously unrecorded figure of the Duke of Cambridge (George William Frederick Charles) standing on a titled gilt lined base with raised gilt capitals, his right hand holding a cocked hat, his left by his side holding a cape, a sword by his hand, wearing a tunic with epaulettes and trousers, a sash across his chest and waist. This is the only known example of this figure to be recorded, to my knowledge, it has never been illustrated in any known publication and may well be unique. I have recently discovered an original Victorian sheet music cover titled ‘The Soldier’s Polka’ by Charles D’Albert, it may well be the original source the potters used as their inspiration for the production of the figure. The figure is in perfect original condition with no damage, repairs, or restoration and dates to c1856.
