A superb pair of very rare game dogs seated on gilt scrolled bases, probably Irish Setters. This pair are one of the hardest of all Staffordshire dog pairs to find and are also one of the most impressive. This pair have been repaired professionally, both retouched to the red overglaze enamel in areas, the right dog having a hairline stabilised, all repairs are invisible. Made in Staffordshire, England c1860, no other damage, repairs, or restoration. The dogs can also be found coloured white and gilt, and black and white.
