A group figure of a pair of soldiers standing either side of flags, a drum, bugle, and clock face, on a titled base with raised gilt capitals, the left, with his right arm to his side holding a rifle, his left arm to his side, the right with his right arm to his side, his left resting on his hip, both wearing plumed hats, jackets, and trousers. These figures were produced c1860 in response to the Anglo-French war scare, over 130,000 Volunteer Rifles were enlisted, and were reviewed by Queen Victoria in Hyde Park, London. A very fine example well coloured.
