This impressive large enamel-painted figure is known from only this example. His coat and the fire at his feet suggest he is emblematic of Winter, but no companion Seasons have been documented. His attire resembles that of a Russian soldier, so perhaps he was made at the time of Russia’s military action in the Napoleonic Wars. Height 12.7 inches. Made in Staffordshire c. 1810.
