A rare and previously unrecorded original early Staffordshire pottery figure titled “Wood Man” standing on a decorated round base,  wearing a round hat, shirt, overcoat, and breeches, he holds an axe under his left shoulder and a carving knife is tucked into his coat belt, he holds his jacket with his right hand. Made without bocage, this pearlware glazed rare survivors is well coloured in a variety of overglaze enamels. The figure has been professionally restored. Made in Staffordshire, England c1820.
