A very good original pair of Staffordshire standing horses with their recumbent foals below. Made in the form of spill vases, this true pair demonstrates the versatility of the decorators choices of pallet, both figures painted in the round and each animal decorated in a variety of overglaze enamel colours, tan, dapple, beige, and black. This pair are in perfect condition with no damage, repairs, or restoration, the left hand figure having a firing fault to the base original to manufacture. They were made in the style of Thomas Parr, being produced at his factory in Staffordshire, England c1850.
