An original pearlware enamel glazed Staffordshire figure group in the form of a tree trunk spill vase. The young boy shepherd is playing a flute whilst attending his flock with his trusty dog. This pottery figure has lots of appeal and charm and captures the romantic view of the English countryside in the first quarter of the 19th century. This example is in near perfect condition having minor restoration to the lute and sheep’s ear. Made in Staffordshire, England c1820.
