An excellent antique Staffordshire pottery pearlware figure group of the Dandies. The pair are modelled standing on a square burgundy lined base, richly decorated with bright overglaze enamels. These Dandies are particularly good-looking, slightly comical in character and in very good condition. They are the large and imposing sort after version, c.1810-30. Myrna, sums up these group figures perfectly, “Dandy figure groups ooze personality” and this example is no exception. Although some of the groups utilise closely similar moulds, slight differences in placement or painting impart unique characteristics that allow each group to exude its own personality. This pair was originally made without a bocage.
Current Condition: Professional and invisible restoration of a very minor chip to the back base, and neck of the male.
