A very rare group figure of a sailor and his mother standing on a titled base with gilt script ‘A Mothers Last Gift’ the sailor cross-legged, his left arm to his side, his right across his chest holding a Bible, wearing a brimmed hat, jacket, neckerchief, shirt, and trousers, his mother with her left arm to her side holding a bag, her right handing a Bible to her son, wearing a lace top bonnet, bodice, apron, and skirt. A very rare and desirable Crimean war figure that is difficult to locate, this example is in original condition having no damage, repairs, or restoration, just rubbing to the base gilt title. Made in Staffordshire, England c1854.
