A figure of a blacksmith standing on a titled base with raised black capitals, wearing a cap, open necked shirt, leather apron, and trousers with high boots, his left hand is on his hip and his right rests on an anvil by his side, there are three horseshoes on the base. This figure can be found in three sizes, this being the smallest. The Victorians loved to portray workaday characters in clay, a reminder of the many different labour skills in operation throughout Victorian England. This example is in perfect original condition having no damage, repairs, or restoration, it was made in Staffordshire, England c1870.
