Blind Fiddler & Child (Dickens Characters)

Stock No: 001112

Height:  8 Inches / 20 cm

Reference: Harding Book 1, Page 276, Fig 1001

A rare well coloured group figure of an elderly blind man standing. He holds a violin or a fiddle in his right hand, dressed in hat, waistcoat, jacket, and knee breeches: his left hand rests on the shoulder of a young girl who stands at his side holding a hat with coppers in it. This figure pairs with a similar group, a young boy and elderly woman standing. It has been commonly accepted that the figure above pairs with the figure of David Copperfield and Clara Peggotty, characters from Charles Dickens novel of the same name. This example is in repaired condition. Made by the Alpha factory in Staffordshire, England c1849.
