A fine figure of James Sadler the balloonist seated in a chair on a shaped gilt lined base, his left hand resting on a book a pillar below, his right hand resting on his leg with spectacles, wearing a jacket, waistcoat, breeches, and stockings. This figure has often been named as a portrait of William Huntington and were it not for the recently found painting of Mr Sadler, this attribution may have stayed. This figure is in original condition with no damage, repairs, or restoration c1850’s.
