A group figure of a couple seated in an arbour on a titled base with raised gilt capitals ‘Rival‘. He is seated with his arm around her shoulder and his right hand holding hers. He is wearing a military uniform of high collared tunic, ermine edged cape and trousers. She, seated beside him, wears a bodice and long aproned skirt with a scarf around her waist. Laying in the arbour above is a man wearing a shirt, neckerchief, breeches and long coat, holding his plumed hat in his left hand.

Harding mentions that his example is the only example recorded and probably unique and that it is the only figure to bear any resemblance to the published work: the male figure is wearing a military uniform and could therefore be portraying ‘Captain Absolute’, while all other figures are of civilians. This is the finest and most superior version of all the Rival groups. I’m proud to be able to bring only the second example of it ever recorded, fresh to the market and in perfect condition, no repairs or restoration.
