A group figure of Romeo and Juliet on gilt lined base, he is seated cross-legged holding her hand, wearing a jerkin and kilt, she is seated leaning against a tree, wearing a bodice and double skirted dress. It is one half of a very rare pair of figures, the other being a mirror image. There were several figures produced by the same modeller during the 1850s. Thomas Parr, a potter from Staffordshire must have loved Shakespeare as he produced so many related examples. A fabulous figure.
