A superb fine quality and exceptionally well coloured antique pearlware Staffordshire pottery figure group of a rural couple with chickens. This fabulous rural scene of a couple tending their chickens is bursting with colour and charm. The lady is seated holding a chicken in both arms, wearing a large hat, shirt, bodice, and skirt, the male stands with his left arm raised, wearing a hat, shirt, waistcoat, and trousers, two chickens peck the ground below. Made in Staffordshire, England c1820 and with a rich pearlware glaze and full flowering bocage it is in remarkable condition having some minor bocage tips professionally restored and one hen’s tail.
