A fine figure of Souter Johnnie seated in high back chair wearing a cap, shirt, large apron, knee breeches, and boots. His left hand rests on hid knee and he holds a jug in his right hand. This figure is modelled and decorated very finely in the round. It would have been produced during the 1830’s. The figure is based on a Robert Burns poem which tells the story of the farmer Tam O Shanta and friend Souter Johnnie on a drunken night out and their return home. It is in perfect condition having no damage, repairs, or restoration.
