The Turkish soldier with his right arm to his side, his left resting on the lap of the sailor, he wears a turban, jacket, shirt and pantaloons, a sash around his waist. The English sailor is seated centrally on a cannon, his left hand is raised above his head holding a mug, his right holding a large flag, he wears a hat, jacket, neckerchief, shirt and trousers, the French soldier stands with his right hand resting on the sailor’s knee, his left to his side also holding a large flag, wearing a cocked hat, tunic and trousers, a sash across his chest and waist.

This is one of the finest Crimean inspired figures produced by the Potteries. The source the potters used to create this masterpiece was from a print found by Anthony Oliver in ‘Cassell’s Illustrated Family Paper‘ 15 March 1856. A rare and desirable figure showing an array of overglaze enamel colours. Restored professionally.
