A fine figure of a sailor standing on a square gilt lined base coloured with green overglaze enamel decoration, his right arm raised to his head and holding his hat, his elbow resting on a long wooden stick, his left resting on his hip, wearing a wide brimmed straw hat, striped long sleeved shirt, neckerchief, and flared trousers. This figure is believed to have been made by the Lloyds of Shelton, John and Rebecca, it is of exceptional quality and Mr Oliver suggests it portrays Thomas Potter Cooke dancing the famous Horn Pipe. Made in Staffordshire, England c1835.
